SafeHaus UK Nigeria places Live In, Live Out, Permanent, Temporary, Full Time and Part Time Placements.
Who pays the staff’s salary?
Staff salaries are paid either directly by the employer and agreed upon when the person accepts the position or by us. In situations where we pay the staff, the client pays us (monthly or annually) and we pay our staff including benefits. We will not accept any employer who continuously withholds an employee placed by us for more than a week after it’s due. A retainer fee is charged for any future placements which will cover any such eventuality in the future.

We place candidates on part time or full time jobs and the hours are set by each individual family.
Length of Employment
All of our permanent candidates are looking for long term positions. We expect our clients to treat our placements with dignity and respect even if they’re classed as their employees and not SafeHaus-UK Nigeria’s.
Will we ever take the candidate you hire off the job?
We will never take an individual you hire off your job. Our goal is for the person to remain with you for years and become a part of the family. Most of our clients are referred to us from their friends and family. We will only take a placement off you if there is sustained complaint of maltreatment (only after thorough investigation)
Do you carry out vetting checks?
Yes, we always carry out checks where necessary and requested as part of our thorough vetting process. For this there is a supplementary fee of NGN1500
Is your personal information kept confidential?
All information of both client and staff are kept confidential and secure. Only pertinent information are used to search or advertise available positions.
How do placement advisers decide what candidate is the right fit for the position?
We dedicate a lot of time interviewing and vetting every candidate and family. We receive many calls and emails from applicants every day and only a select few are considered for our jobs. We also ask for references from previous employees of families for our placement peace of mind.
When do you start the placement process?
Typically, most people are looking for positions immediately. In most scenarios, our search begins 30-60 days in advance except that category is available on our database. We’re in the process of training people in the different categories and will not need to search in the future but match families ASAP. The client should be prepared to hire someone as soon as we find the correct match.
How quickly can you place someone?
We are capable of placing someone in your home within 24 hours. Of course, every job is different and some positions may take some time to find the most qualified and experienced individual. However, we will give you the choice of picking who we have available on a temporary basis until we have a permanent solution.
Can we search your database?
Once you become an active client, we make available to you, our database of available household staff applicants to search at your leisure. Interviews can be arranged with the people you have possible interest in hiring. All interviews are conducted by us.
What is your Agency Application Fee?
Our current application fee for families is NGN25,000. This fee is valid for one year and is the only obligation you have towards us to have access to our database and our consultants and advisors 24/7. Once we introduce you to a suitable candidate, which you elect to employ on any of our available employment options, you will then pay the applicable fees.
Is the agency placement fee based on the salary paid to candidate?
Yes, our agency placement fee applies only to permanent placements and depends on what the person is paid. It is 5% of their annual salary. Our goal is to find you the most appropriate candidate at the most reasonable costs.
When are we required to pay a placement fee?
Placement fees are only charged for permanent staff. The fee is based on their yearly salary. This is non-negotiable. Once you decide to employ a candidate, a placement fee shall be deemed payable. Contact us for our placement fee at (number)
What are the typical salary ranges for a live in candidate?
Salaries depend on your location and experience level of the candidate. Live in can range from NGN25,000 to as high as NGN40,000 per month with benefits.
What are the typical hourly ranges for a live out candidate?
Hourly rates depend on your location and experience level of the candidate. Live out can range from NGN400 to NGN600 per hour. These will only be applicable in temporary placements. All temporary staff are employees of SafeHaus-UK Nigeria so all payments are paid in full at booking.
When do the candidates undertake the extensive vetting process?
Once you elect to employ a candidate, the candidates vetting are performed so that you have the most recent results. This is also the most cost effective way for us to run our business. This is also because of the potential high turnover rate in the industry although our candidates stay with us for a long period because of the level of care and support we give them.
How long does it take to receive the results of the screening process?
Typically, all results are returned within one week but due to the usual delay with some of the required checks, it can take up to 3 weeks.
Where do we recruit our candidates from?
Our candidates have a variety of backgrounds and all currently live in Nigeria. All our candidates are submitting applications Nationwide, which gives us the opportunity to introduce you to individuals who are also willing to relocate to your area from other states.
Do you provide any courses, for nannies for example?
Yes, we provide a range of outstanding courses for the different services which have proven invaluable to many attendees. Details of these are available on our website.
Can we check references on a potential candidate?
Most candidates have written references from former employers who you are more than welcome to contact. Please bear in mind that some of these candidates might have just started recently in the industry or are school leavers and might not have previous employers references but our vetting process will ensure that they get at least 3 character references before they’re placed in our books.
What if the candidate chosen needs to be replaced?
We will replace a candidate for any reason as long as your reason is valid, after thorough investigation. Until another candidate is hired, we will send you a temporary placement. We aim to assist you in the success of your placement and we have a high retention rate.
What languages do your candidates speak?
All of our candidates must be able to speak English fluently. If you should require a candidate who is speaks your own language or other languages, please notify one of our placement advisors and we will try to accommodate your needs.
What areas are candidates placed in?
We specialise in placing candidates nationwide.
What experience do your candidates have?
Each candidate will have a different education or qualifications and/or experience. We will try to coordinate this according to your family’s needs.
What is the age range of your candidates?
Our candidates range from ages 18-60. Maturity level and degree of responsibility are important factors when choosing a candidate for a particular job.
Do your candidates drive?
No. None of our staff own a car but if a family requires a placement with driving skills, we can accommodate their request but the family will provide a car for them to use for work purposes (only in live-in situations).
What benefits should be offered? (permanent positions only)
We encourage family employers to offer their own individual benefits package or can ask for advice from our advisors. Typically, benefit packages should include some of the following: holidays, sick & personal days, health etc.
What information can I learn about the candidate prior to the interviewing process?
You can learn each candidate’s education, experience, hobbies, personality traits and work history online prior to the interviewing process. All personal information is kept private and confidential until a hire is made.
How do phone interviews take place?
A phone conference call is arranged with each candidate you have expressed interest in. Face to face interviews are then be scheduled except they’re already our staff.
